Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, led a meeting of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) to oversee the handling of offerings and donations at the shrine. The meeting, attended by SMVDSB members and senior officials, focused on ensuring transparency and adherence to established procedures in managing devotees’ contributions.
During the meeting, a detailed examination of the collection, counting, accounting, safeguarding, and utilization of offerings received at the shrine was conducted to maintain transparency and accountability. The Shrine Board’s presentation showcased the robust systems and mechanisms in place for the secure handling of offerings, including those received through donation boxes, counters, online platforms, and precious metals.
The Board, chaired by the Lieutenant Governor, was briefed on the verification processes, surveillance measures, banking protocols, and periodic audits governing the entire offering management process. It was emphasized that all financial transactions related to offerings strictly adhere to banking norms, statutory provisions, and government guidelines.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the stringent security measures in place for the handling, storage, transportation, processing, and refining of precious metal offerings, ensuring compliance with established protocols. Following a comprehensive review, the Board expressed satisfaction with the transparency, accountability, and effectiveness of the current arrangements.
The Board commended the stringent security and monitoring mechanisms implemented to uphold the integrity, financial discipline, and public trust associated with managing devotees’ sacred offerings at the shrine.
