Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, highlighted India’s historical embrace of coexistence and diversity during an inter-faith conference in Srinagar. Sinha stressed that India’s philosophy has long honored all faiths equally, making diversity a natural way of life. He noted that while many nations struggle with this concept, diversity has been integral to India’s societal fabric.
Sinha pointed out that India has a tradition of respecting all ideas and beliefs, emphasizing unity in diversity. He referenced the Rigveda’s teachings on aligning hearts and minds, promoting harmony in feelings, and uniting thoughts. Sinha also mentioned that the spirit of equal regard for all religions has deep roots in India’s ancient traditions.
The LG expressed that India’s philosophies, as reflected in its Vedas, Upanishads, and seers, offer a path to global peace through thought and action. Sinha urged society to unite with a shared commitment to humanity’s welfare, highlighting the importance of respecting all religions as a valuable gift from India to the world.
Sinha praised Jammu and Kashmir’s remarkable performance in the Vande Mataram initiative’s three phases, attributing it to the people’s patriotic spirit. He commended the public support for the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan’ and called for a collective effort to create a drug-free and healthier society. The conference was attended by various dignitaries, including Justice Sanjay Dhar, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Prof. Nilofer Khan, and spiritual leaders, among others.
