Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored Babu Markandeya Singh, a renowned socialist leader and former President of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Students’ Union. The tribute took place at a commemoration event in Varanasi, where Singh’s life and contributions were remembered. Sinha praised Singh for guiding the youth with determination, wisdom, and dedication, highlighting his role as an inspiration for the younger generation in nation-building efforts.

Babu Markandeya Singh was lauded by Sinha for embodying principles of peace, social justice, and human dignity. Drawing parallels to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, Singh was commended for his focus on skill development, quality education, and independent thinking for societal progress. Sinha emphasized Singh’s lifelong dedication to societal advancement and nation-building endeavors.

Sinha underscored India’s trajectory towards significant growth, emphasizing sustainable development, capacity building, and equal opportunities for all. He highlighted the nation’s pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and intellectual capital enhancement. Sinha’s roots in Uttar Pradesh and his educational background from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, were also noted, including his past role as the President of the Banaras Hindu University Students’ Union.
