Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha finished the anti-drug ‘Padyatra’ campaign across all 20 districts of the Union Territory by participating in a road march against drugs in Poonch district. Sinha engaged in the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir’ Campaign and Padyatra in Poonch, emphasizing the goal of eradicating drug abuse and narco-terrorism from the region. He stressed the need for collective action to combat drug smuggling, peddling, raise awareness, and expedite rehabilitation efforts.
Sinha highlighted the importance of community responsibility in creating a healthier future, urging unity against drug-related crimes. He emphasized the significance of a concerted effort to make every part of Poonch and the Union Territory drug-free. Sinha also addressed the challenges posed by cross-border drug smuggling in border districts like Poonch, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive societal approach to tackle the issue.
The Lieutenant Governor underscored the necessity for a shift from apathy to proactive measures in addressing the drug menace. Sinha called for a united front against drug traffickers and peddlers, stressing the role of vigilant citizens in building a drug-free society. He outlined the achievements of the recent campaign, including numerous arrests, detentions, and asset seizures targeting the drug network in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha advocated for sustained efforts to embed the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir’ initiative into public consciousness, focusing on youth empowerment through education, skills, and sports to combat drug addiction effectively. He proposed leveraging Youth Clubs and empowering women in leadership roles to strengthen the fight against local drug networks. Sinha affirmed the commitment to eliminating the narco-terror ecosystem through stringent enforcement measures and asset confiscation under the NDPS Act.
