Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the importance of the ongoing Budget Session of the Assembly, stating that it offers an opportunity to evaluate the territory’s progress and major accomplishments. Addressing the Assembly, he stressed the session’s role in reaffirming the commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people, aiming for a prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir.
The 27-day-long session, featuring double sittings over three months, commenced with the Lieutenant Governor’s address. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, also in charge of finance, is set to present the UT’s budget on February 6. The session enables legislators to review achievements, set future priorities, and renew their dedication to meeting the public’s expectations.
Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather urged members to collaborate for the smooth functioning of the House, emphasizing the completion of all necessary arrangements for the session. Congress legislator Tariq Hameed Karra viewed the session as an avenue to address public concerns, while BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa highlighted its role in ensuring government accountability on budget implementation and electoral commitments.
