Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp in north Kashmir to oversee arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026. Sinha, along with senior officials, inspected infrastructure, security measures, and overall preparations to ensure a safe and well-organized environment for pilgrims. Emphasizing the importance of a fulfilling spiritual journey, Sinha instructed all departments to provide necessary amenities for the devotees.
Expressing confidence in the coordinated efforts of various stakeholders, Sinha stated that this year’s Amarnath Yatra would be safer and better managed. He launched the ‘Shubham–Shivam’ campaign for sustainable and clean pilgrimage practices, along with eco-innovations and new branding elements. Sinha praised the sanitation team for their dedication in maintaining cleanliness at the base camp and tracks.
The annual Amarnath Yatra is set to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, coinciding with important festivals. Pilgrims can choose between the traditional Pahalgam route or the shorter Baltal route to reach the cave shrine. The shrine, located at a high altitude in the Kashmir Himalayas, holds significance for devotees who believe in the symbolic powers of Lord Shiva represented by an ice stalagmite structure.
