The Jammu and Kashmir Ranji Trophy team, led by Paras Dogra, will mark their first-ever title victory with a victory march in Jammu city on Sunday. Defeating Karnataka at the KSCA Rajnagar Stadium in Hubbali, the team secured their historic win based on a first innings lead. Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket journey began in 1960, with recent successes including quarterfinal appearances in multiple seasons.
The victory parade, scheduled from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, will cover key locations in Jammu such as BC Road, Akhnoor Road, Jewel Chowk, Jammu University, and the railway station. The team will also have lunch with Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, before proceeding to a dinner party at Fortune Hotel. Left-handed batter Shubham Pundir, Player of the Match for his remarkable 121 in the final, and fast bowler Auqib Nabi, Player of the Tournament with 60 wickets, were key contributors to the team’s success.
This season has been exceptional for Jammu & Kashmir, who not only clinched the Ranji Trophy but also secured the Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group title in Surat. A celebration function is planned by JKCA on March 10 at the JKCA Complex, Hostel Ground in Jammu, starting at 6:30 pm. Additionally, there are potential victory celebrations in Srinagar post-Eid, as per sources.
