The Jammu and Kashmir government disclosed to the Legislative Assembly that 1.77 crore tourists, with over 36,000 being foreigners, visited the Union Territory in 2025. This included 36,410 international travelers and 1,77,28,980 domestic tourists. The Tourism Department reported that between January 1 and December 31, 2025, 1,77,65,390 tourists explored the Union Territory.

The government clarified that no specific targets have been set for tourist arrivals in 2026. However, continuous promotional and developmental efforts are ongoing to enhance both domestic and foreign tourism. The government assured that the Srinagar airport is fully prepared for international flights with necessary facilities like immigration, customs, and security in place.

In response to the query about the Home Stay Programme, the government highlighted its success in increasing accommodation capacity, creating local jobs, and promoting community involvement in tourism. Due to its positive outcomes, the program is likely to expand to other potential areas. The government acknowledged challenges such as limited awareness, capacity gaps, and infrastructure issues, which are being addressed through awareness campaigns and capacity-building initiatives.
