The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) recently carried out a significant demolition drive along the Ring Road Corridor in Jammu district to tackle unauthorized constructions and ensure planned urban development. Over 15 illegal structures, built without proper building permissions, were demolished during the operation. These constructions were found to violate approved land use norms and building regulations, posing a serious threat to public safety.
The enforcement action, led by the JDA’s Enforcement Wing with support from local authorities, aimed to remove structurally unsound buildings and those encroaching on critical areas. This initiative was crucial to mitigate risks to life and property, especially for nearby residential and commercial establishments. The JDA emphasized the importance of adhering to building norms and obtaining necessary permissions for construction activities to maintain planned development in Jammu.
Prior notices were issued to violators as part of the legal process, offering them opportunities to comply with regulations. The JDA reiterated its commitment to orderly urban growth and public safety, warning of continued enforcement actions against unauthorized constructions. In Jammu and Srinagar, the JDA and Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) oversee construction and development plans to ensure safe and planned growth of these cities.
