The Jammu-Srinagar national highway, a crucial route, has been shut for the second day in a row. This closure is a result of landslides and shooting stones caused by continuous rainfall. Northern Railways responded to the highway closure by operating a special train between Srinagar and Katra. This service facilitated the safe transportation of 600 stranded tourists out of the Valley. The special train, initiated by the Jammu Division, aimed to ensure the comfort and security of passengers, especially those with onward rail connections from Katra and Jammu Tawi.
In light of the challenging road conditions, railway officials emphasized the importance of passenger safety and convenience. They recommended travelers to check the latest train status through designated platforms before embarking on their journeys.
