Jamnagar is all lit up and decorated in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming two-day visit to Gujarat. The city is hosting various programs from May 10 to 11, spanning across Jamnagar, Somnath, and Vadodara. Streets, government buildings, and traffic circles in Jamnagar have been embellished with decorative lighting, extending from the Air Force Station to Lal Bangla Circle. Iconic spots like Darbargadh, D.K.V. College, Bedi Naku, Pavan Chakki, Annapurna Circle, and Mahakali Circle are also illuminated, creating a festive ambiance.
Documentary screenings showcasing welfare schemes implemented under the Prime Minister’s leadership are being exhibited at key locations. A public reception event is planned at Lal Bangla Circle around 7.30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. Gujarati folk singer Kirtidan Gadhvi will present a ‘Lok dayro’ during the event, accompanied by cultural performances such as Hudo Raas, Sidi Dhamal, and Maniyaro Raas by folk groups from Saurashtra.
The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that Modi’s visit to Gujarat will feature engagements in Jamnagar, Somnath, and Vadodara. On May 11, he will partake in the ‘Somnath Amrut Mahotsav,’ commemorating 75 years since the inauguration of the reconstructed Somnath Temple. The visit will include participation in various ceremonies at the temple, including Vishesh Maha Puja, Kumbhabhishek, and Dhvajarohan.
The Somnath programs are part of the celebrations marking the restoration of the temple post-Independence, a project closely linked to India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The visit to Somnath will coincide with special events like the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran aerobatic air show over Somnath and a unique Kumbhabhishek ceremony using holy water from 11 pilgrimage sites nationwide. Additionally, on Monday, May 11, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Sardardham Hostel complex near Waghodia crossroads in Vadodara. Local authorities and BJP workers are gearing up for a significant public presence, with a city roadshow also anticipated during the visit.
