Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is expected to visit India in July for discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting, set to take place in Assam, will mark their second in-person interaction. They plan to address various cooperation areas, including security and economy, based on the joint vision for the next decade announced during PM Modi’s 2025 visit to Japan, as reported by NHK.
Amid tensions in West Asia, the leaders are anticipated to deliberate on ensuring stable energy supplies and strengthening resilient critical mineral supply chains. Takaichi aims to enhance bilateral relations by establishing regular mutual visits between the two countries’ leaders, according to NHK World-Japan.
In a previous interaction, PM Modi congratulated Takaichi on her victory in Japan’s House of Representatives election. He expressed confidence in further elevating the friendship between India and Japan under her leadership. Takaichi, in response, expressed gratitude for PM Modi’s wishes and emphasized her commitment to bolstering the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between Japan and India.
During their meeting at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg last November, both leaders explored ways to boost bilateral cooperation in innovation, defense, talent mobility, and other sectors. PM Modi highlighted the importance of a strong India-Japan partnership for global betterment and emphasized the significance of enhancing trade ties between the two nations.
