Jasprit Bumrah credited Mumbai Indians’ strategy of bowling hard lengths on a dry Dharamshala pitch for their win against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026 clash. Leading the team in the absence of injured captain Hardik Pandya, Bumrah guided Mumbai to a thrilling chase of 201 runs with one ball remaining.
Bumrah praised both teams for playing good cricket and highlighted the importance of holding the length due to the dry conditions. Shardul Thakur’s impressive bowling performance, taking 4-39, and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 75 were crucial in Mumbai’s victory.
In the chase, Ryan Rickelton’s quick 48 off 23 balls provided a strong start for Mumbai. Tilak Varma’s composed innings, supported by Will Jacks’ quick cameo, ensured Mumbai successfully chased the target.
Reflecting on his captaincy role, Bumrah humorously mentioned leading in Tests and T20s, hinting at a potential ODI captaincy. Despite the win, Mumbai Indians are out of the playoff race, currently in the ninth position on the points table with 8 points in 12 matches.
