Senior JD-U leader Leshi Singh made history in Bihar politics by becoming a minister for the eighth time in Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s Cabinet expansion. The swearing-in ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other NDA leaders, took place at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan.
Leshi Singh, a prominent figure in Bihar’s Seemanchal region, has represented the Dhamdaha constituency for multiple terms. Starting her political career in 2000 with the Samata Party, she has steadily climbed the party ranks, establishing herself as a key political player in Bihar.
Despite personal tragedy, Leshi Singh persevered in politics, carving out an independent identity in the state. With vast administrative experience, she has overseen crucial departments like Industries, Social Welfare, Disaster Management, and Food and Consumer Protection in Bihar.
Having secured a significant victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Leshi Singh’s electoral prowess is seen as pivotal for JD-U’s influence in Seemanchal. The newly inducted ministers, Nishant Kumar and Shweta Gupta, also expressed their commitment to serving under Chief Minister Choudhary and upholding the party’s values.
