Hollywood actor Jeremy Allen White, portraying Bruce Springsteen in the film ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,’ expressed his anxiety upon learning that the music legend would be visiting the set regularly. The pressure of meeting fans’ expectations of The Boss was compounded by Springsteen’s role as a producer on the movie, as revealed during The Hollywood Reporter’s Actors Roundtable.
White admitted feeling the weight of portraying someone as revered as Springsteen, stating his reluctance to interfere with people’s deep admiration for the music icon. Despite doubts about his suitability for the role, White ultimately embraced the challenge, taking a “leap of faith” to tackle the demanding task of singing and playing the guitar for the biopic within a tight six-month preparation window.
Fellow actors Jacob Elordi and Mark Hamill empathized with White’s situation, with Hamill expressing his own sense of nervousness just imagining the pressure. White, chosen by both Springsteen and director Scott Cooper for the role, initially questioned his abilities but decided to confront the challenge head-on, driven by a determination to rise to the occasion.
