The Jharkhand High Court has included the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a respondent in the case of a minor girl missing from Bokaro district for six years. The court has instructed the CBI to actively participate in the investigation alongside the state Crime Investigation Department (CID).
In response to a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s mother, Usha Jha, a bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Sanjay Prasad directed the CBI to provide technical and investigative support to the CID for locating the missing girl promptly.
The court, after involving the CBI in the case, has set the next hearing for July 27. It was revealed during the hearing that a girl in Bihar’s Gopalganj was identified through e-KYC facial matching, showing a 90% resemblance to the missing Bokaro teenager, although her identity could not be confirmed due to mismatching fingerprint records and other identification details.
