Jharkhand is set to hold ‘Chunav Pathshalas’ at all polling stations on July 14 as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to enhance transparency in the voter verification process. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will publicly announce the list of voters categorized under ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate) for easy verification of electoral rolls. This initiative was revealed by Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar during a recent meeting with district officials.
The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, saw the participation of various officials including District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and BLO supervisors. CEO K. Ravi Kumar instructed officials to expedite the digitization of voter forms in areas with slow progress by organizing special camps to meet the set deadlines. Additionally, joint meetings of BLOs and BLA-2 representatives are scheduled in all districts on July 14 in conjunction with the Election Pathshala program.
Highlighting the significance of the Special Intensive Revision exercise, CEO K. Ravi Kumar stressed its vital role in the democratic process, emphasizing the need for active involvement from political parties and voters. He encouraged voters to accurately complete enumeration forms and submit them promptly to BLOs. The CEO emphasized that only eligible Indian citizens should fill out these forms, warning that providing false information as a foreign national is a punishable offense under the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
CEO K. Ravi Kumar also mentioned that voters requiring assistance or guidance in form-filling can seek help from BLOs, volunteers, or AI-based video tutorials provided by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Officials were tasked with ensuring precise updates of voters’ information and conducting the process transparently and without errors.
