Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah highlighted the increasing focus on golf tourism in Kashmir, with plans for national-level golfing events in the region this year. He emphasized the quality of Kashmir’s golf courses, aiming to position the area as a top golfing destination. At the India Golf Carnival 2026 inauguration at the Royal Springs Golf Course, Abdullah emphasized Kashmir’s rich golfing heritage and top-notch facilities.
Abdullah stressed the government’s efforts to support local golfers and leverage the sport to enhance tourism in the region. He expressed the significance of promoting golf in Kashmir to nurture local talent and attract young players to the game. The tournament witnessed over 100 golfers, including participants from various parts of the country, showcasing the rising appeal of Kashmir as a golfing hotspot.
The Chief Minister noted the increasing trend of golf enthusiasts from outside Jammu and Kashmir visiting Srinagar for golfing trips during extended weekends. He anticipated a positive impact on tourism due to this growing interest in golfing activities. Abdullah outlined plans for future events in collaboration with tourism authorities and organizers to elevate Kashmir’s status on the national and global golfing stage.
