J&K L-G Manoj Sinha has called for collaboration among civil society members, including religious, political, and business leaders, to ensure the success of SANJY-2026. Emphasizing the need for selfless service, Sinha highlighted the improvements in infrastructure for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, stressing that success should not be solely measured by physical facilities. He urged various groups to work together to create a pilgrimage experience that embodies both spirituality and compassion.
Sinha, who chairs the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, underscored the significance of collective efforts in making the Yatra a model of service and harmony. The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine, managed by SASB, holds religious importance with devotees believing in the symbolic representation of Lord Shiva’s powers through the ice stalagmite structure. Pilgrims can choose between the traditional Pahalgam route or the Baltal route to reach the shrine, with this year’s Yatra seeing restrictions on helicopter services for security reasons.
The Competent Authority has declared the Yatra routes as ‘No Flying Zone’ from July 1, 2026, until the Yatra’s completion, affecting helicopter services for pilgrim travel. Pilgrims are advised to plan their visit accordingly, either trekking on foot or utilizing pony/palki services during the Yatra period.
