J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha initiated the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 by sending off the first group of pilgrims from Jammu. This marks the start of the annual pilgrimage with tight security and logistical arrangements in place across the region. The event saw a spirited send-off with devotees, officials, and security forces present as the pilgrims set off for the revered Amarnath cave shrine.
The pilgrimage is considered a significant spiritual journey to the holy site of Baba Barfani. L-G Sinha expressed his blessings for a safe and spiritually enriching journey for all devotees. Jugal Kishore Sharma, a Lok Sabha member, hailed the yatra as one of the nation’s most revered spiritual pilgrimages and expressed confidence in its peaceful and successful conduct.
Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, extended his best wishes to the pilgrims and lauded the arrangements made by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board for a secure and comfortable pilgrimage experience. He anticipated a record turnout of pilgrims this year, surpassing previous years.
The atmosphere at the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps was filled with spiritual fervor as thousands of devotees joyfully chanted “Bam Bam Bhole” to kick off the pilgrimage. Security measures were heightened along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur, with the CRPF’s 137 Battalion and a specialized K9 squad ensuring thorough sanitization before the pilgrim convoy’s movement.
Stringent security measures, surveillance systems, and logistical support have been put in place along the yatra route to guarantee a safe and successful pilgrimage.
