Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Crime Branch has submitted a charge sheet against seven individuals in court for alleged corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case involves the misappropriation of government funds meant for a school building project in Hampora Kralgund under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme. Despite funds being released, the project’s approved works, including a kitchen, toilet, and ramp, were not completed as required.
The investigation revealed that only the school building structure was constructed on-site, while the essential components were missing. It was found that the accused officials, in collusion with the contractor, deviated from the approved plan and built a different structure. Additionally, the completed building was not handed over to the Education Department, allowing another individual to occupy it illegally.
Based on collected evidence, the accused individuals are facing legal action for their involvement in the corruption case. The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir is committed to fighting corruption and protecting public resources through legal measures.
