Joint forces have restarted the anti-terrorist operation in Billawar tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. The operation, which includes the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, the Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was initiated in Kahog village. During a search operation, the SOG team was fired upon by terrorists, resulting in a security personnel sustaining a minor leg injury.
The injured personnel was promptly taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Firing exchanges between the forces and terrorists lasted for about an hour the previous evening. The operation has now shifted to the Dhanu Parole-Kamadh Nallah forest area with additional forces deployed and aerial surveillance in progress to locate the terrorists hiding in the dense forests.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, mentioned that despite challenging conditions, security forces are actively pursuing the operation. The exchange of fire continued for over an hour before subsiding, with no immediate confirmation on terrorist casualties. Security measures have been heightened in Kathua and surrounding regions, with a focus on Republic Day security preparedness.
