Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie displayed a strong performance, defeating former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore in the men’s singles semifinals at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2026, a BWF World Tour Super 750 event. Christie, the third seed, staged a comeback in the opening game to secure a 21-18, 22-20 victory in 46 minutes, advancing to the men’s singles final.
In a competitive match, Christie strategically shifted his tactics, engaging Loh in longer rallies and relying on his defensive skills to secure crucial points. Despite a strong start from Loh, Christie’s resilience and quick attacks helped him clinch the match and maintain his winning streak over his opponent.
Reflecting on his performance, Christie mentioned that maintaining composure and adapting to the game were key factors in his victory. He is now set to face the winner of the semi-final between Victor Lai of Canada and Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei in the upcoming final.
