Jordan officially became a member of key global initiatives led by India, including the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), and the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA). The Ambassador of Jordan, Mr. Yousef Abdelghani, handed over the membership documents to Dr. Neena Malhotra of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The ISA, a collaboration between India and France, focuses on implementing solar energy solutions to combat climate change. With over 100 signatory nations and more than 90 full members, the ISA aims to promote solar energy adoption globally. The GBA, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to leverage biofuels for energy transition and socio-economic growth, with 33 countries and 14 international organizations as members.
CDRI, a global coalition with 53 member countries and 12 partner organizations, works towards enhancing infrastructure resilience against climate and disaster risks. It facilitates knowledge exchange, research, and investment in disaster-resilient infrastructure. Jordan’s Ambassador to India highlighted the strong bilateral ties and expressed readiness to enhance trade relations with India.
