Following the retirement of Chief Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai on July 11, 2026, Justice Sudhir Singh, the senior-most judge, will step in as the Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. The Government of India has appointed him through a notification to ensure the court’s smooth operation until a new Chief Justice is appointed.
A farewell ceremony was organized for Chief Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai at the Centenary Hall of the Patna High Court. The event, held on Friday, was attended by High Court judges, members of the Bar, and various senior legal figures, including Advocates Association President Yogesh Chandra Verma and Additional Advocate General Anjani Kumar.
