Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao accused Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of conspiring with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay to protect Sanjay’s son, Bandi Bhageerath, in a POCSO case. Rama Rao criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly shielding the accused for nine days and intimidating the victim’s family. He demanded clarity on whether such a prolonged sheltering of a POCSO accused had occurred elsewhere in the country.
Rama Rao further claimed that the accused was eventually arrested only after the State High Court denied bail and criticized the Chief Minister for offering what he deemed as absurd excuses for the delay in apprehending the accused. He challenged both Bandi Sanjay and the Chief Minister to identify those responsible for filing a counter-case against the victim’s family. Rama Rao insisted that accountability must be established for baseless reports and alleged attempts to suppress media coverage related to the case.
The BRS leader emphasized that the party had refrained from politicizing the issue out of sensitivity to the victim but felt compelled to respond after facing criticisms from the Chief Minister. He called for an inquiry into reports suggesting that the accused had been hidden in a hospital owned by a close associate of the Chief Minister. Rama Rao questioned the integrity of the accused’s sheltering and demanded explanations regarding conflicting statements made by Bandi Sanjay.
