Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao accused Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of halting the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project to please his former mentor, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Rama Rao highlighted that completing the project could credit former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and upset Naidu.
Speaking to the media at the Assembly premises, KTR emphasized the importance of irrigation projects for drinking water needs, criticizing the delay in acknowledging this fact openly. He contrasted the incomplete Polavaram project, under discussion for over 70 years, with the successful completion of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project during KCR’s tenure.
KTR praised KCR’s commitment by citing the Kaleshwaram project as a testament to his dedication. He expressed concern over the Palamuru-Rangareddy project’s limited 45 TMC allocation, contrasting it with the earlier Congress government’s agreement for 299 TMCs in Krishna. Alleging deliberate obstruction by Revanth Reddy, KTR urged for enhanced allocations from the Centre.
