Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has challenged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to commit to fulfilling the 420 promises and six guarantees made by the Congress party in the 2023 elections. KTR accused the Chief Minister of trying to mislead the public by suggesting he would not run for elections if electricity meters were installed on agricultural pump sets. He urged Revanth Reddy to publicly declare that he would not seek votes until all promises to the people of Telangana were met.
KTR raised concerns about the Congress government’s accountability on key promises such as housing for the poor, welfare guarantees, and commitments made during the Assembly elections. He criticized the proposed creation of a separate “Farmers’ DISCOM,” alleging it aimed to withdraw the 24-hour free power supply for farmers. KTR highlighted that the Congress government’s actions could jeopardize the welfare measures introduced by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
The BRS leader emphasized that the government’s policies could potentially deprive farmers of uninterrupted power supply despite public assurances of free electricity. KTR likened Revanth Reddy’s concern for farmers to “as little as the amount of ghee in a ridge gourd.” He urged both farmers and urban residents to oppose what he described as a conspiracy against the agricultural sector.
KTR urged vigilance against policies that could harm the interests of farmers and citizens, citing the Congress government’s track record of unfulfilled promises. He credited K. Chandrashekar Rao with transforming Telangana’s power sector and ensuring 24-hour electricity supply, accusing the Congress government of attempting to undermine this legacy.
