Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao accused the Congress of pushing Telangana back into an agrarian crisis. He highlighted that none of the 34 promises made in the farmers’ declaration four years ago have been fulfilled by the Congress government. Speaking at a ‘Rythu Sangrama Sabha’ in Warangal, Rao demanded immediate procurement of farmers’ produce and accountability for unmet promises.
K.T. Rama Rao emphasized that the BRS will persist until every crop grown by farmers is bought. He criticized the Congress for failing to implement any of the promises announced in the farmers’ declaration by Rahul Gandhi. Rao warned of intensified farmer protests across Telangana if crop procurement delays persist, cautioning the government against underestimating the farming community’s strength.
Expressing deep concern for farmers, K.T. Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for not fulfilling key promises like farm loan waivers, financial aid, crop bonuses, and fertilizer supply. He urged farmers not to lose hope and advised them to collectively hold the government accountable instead of resorting to extreme measures like suicide.
K.T. Rama Rao called for immediate action, including unconditional crop procurement, full implementation of the Warangal farmers’ declaration, completion of farm loan waivers, settlement of pending dues, and compensation for deceased farmers’ families. He highlighted the deteriorating agricultural situation in Telangana, pointing out issues such as procurement challenges, pending payments, fertilizer shortages, and erratic power supply.
