The Kabaddi Champions League (KCL) will commence with Sonipat Stars facing Gurugram Gurus in the opening match at the Sports University of Haryana, Rai, on January 25. Following this, Rohtak Royals will compete against Karnal Kings, marking the beginning of this thrilling event.
Eight franchises, including Sonipat Stars, Gurugram Gurus, Hisar Heroes, Bhiwani Bulls, Rohtak Royals, Karnal Kings, Panipat Panthers, and Faridabad Fighters, will engage in competitive matches over 12 days in a league format. Teams will vie for a spot in the knockouts and the coveted title of the first KCL champions.
The tournament promises exciting clashes, emerging rivalries, and intense competition as teams battle for supremacy. The semifinals are scheduled for February 6, leading up to the final showdown on February 7. The opening night is anticipated to showcase regional rivalries and set the stage for a thrilling competition with a series of action-packed matches.
Under the leadership of head coach Surender Nada, the Royals have put together a 16-member squad featuring renowned all-rounder Sandeep Narwal. Narwal, a multiple-time Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) champion and former India international, brings valuable experience and leadership to the team’s raiding and defensive units. The squad boasts several members with prior PKL experience, enhancing the team’s overall strength.
At the auctions, the Royals made significant acquisitions, including Vijay Malik as their top purchase at Rs 9.4 lakh. Malik emerged as the most expensive player for Rohtak Royals, complemented by the addition of key Category A players like Rakesh Singroha, Ankit Rana, Sandeep Deswal, Aaryan, and veteran defender Sandeep Narwal, further solidifying the team’s roster.
