Veteran actor Kabir Bedi has expressed his happiness regarding the growing relationship between India and Italy, a bond he has actively supported since his days on the Italian TV series ‘Sandokan’. Kabir shared a picture on Instagram showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shaking hands, emphasizing his delight in witnessing the two countries coming closer.
In his caption, Kabir mentioned, “It gives me great joy to see India and Italy growing closer by the day. It’s what I’ve worked for since the days of SANDOKAN.” The 1976 Italian television series ‘Sandokan’, directed by Sergio Sollima and based on the novels of Emilio Salgari, featured Kabir Bedi as the pirate hero Sandokan.
Recently, Modi revived the popular “#Melodi” moment by presenting Meloni with a packet of “Melody”, a chewy toffee. A video shared by Meloni on Instagram captured the light-hearted exchange between the two leaders, with Meloni expressing gratitude for the gift received from Prime Minister Modi.
The “Melodi” trend, a blend of the names Modi and Meloni, gained traction on social media platforms, symbolizing the amicable interactions between the two leaders and the perceived strengthening of India-Italy relations. Originating from a selfie shared by Meloni during the COP28 summit in Dubai, the ‘Melodi’ phenomenon has evolved into a viral trend, reflecting the positive rapport between the two nations.
