The final piece, a tunnel near Kandaghat in Solan district, is the last step towards finishing the project.
The tunnel near Kandaghat, known for its vibrant markets, will streamline traffic flow, saving time for commuters while preserving the town’s bustling atmosphere. Despite delays due to landslides and other issues, the project is now progressing rapidly, especially with the focus on completing the Kandaghat tunnel. Once operational, the highway will offer a picturesque journey through pine forests, over flyovers, and tunnels, enhancing connectivity between the plains and Shimla’s hills.
The highway upgrade project, initiated in 2015 and initially scheduled for completion by 2018, has seen significant milestones achieved. Notably, a viaduct spanning 160 meters was constructed using innovative techniques, showcasing remarkable progress. Ongoing works include the construction of a twin-tube tunnel and a flyover in Kandaghat, aimed at enhancing travel efficiency.
