Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Kamal Nath, accused the BJP government of removing over three lakh farmers from the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme in the state. He stated that farmers in Madhya Pradesh are facing deception under the current government. Nath highlighted a drop in the number of beneficiaries from 86.49 lakh to 83.01 lakh, alleging that more than three lakh farmers were excluded from the scheme without notice.
Nath further mentioned that over 80,000 farmers are awaiting e-KYC verification, and approximately 1.87 lakh farmers have not linked their bank accounts with Aadhaar numbers, resulting in delayed installment payments. He urged the government to release pending payments to eligible farmers promptly instead of causing them distress. Additionally, he raised concerns about cyber fraud in wheat procurement payments in Shivpuri district, where farmers allegedly did not receive payments at MSP, with funds being redirected to suspicious accounts.
The Congress leader emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the cyber fraud incidents affecting numerous farmers, demanding immediate compensation for the victims. Despite the BJP’s promotion of the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Nath pointed out a significant decline in beneficiaries in Madhya Pradesh within a year. The allegations made by Kamal Nath have not yet received a response from the Madhya Pradesh government.
