Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath criticized the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government for canceling the NEET UG 2026 exam, calling it a significant failure. He likened the situation to the infamous Vyapam scam in the state, expressing concerns over unqualified individuals being recruited, which he labeled as a violation of talented students’ rights.
Nath highlighted a pattern of leaks and irregularities in entrance exams from 2015 to 2024, suggesting an organized racket operating unchecked despite government assurances of high security. The National Testing Agency’s cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exam, due to a paper leak, has impacted around 2.3 million medical aspirants, raising doubts about the examination’s integrity.
The exam’s cancellation has left students in limbo, awaiting new test dates. While the Union government defends the need for a re-test to ensure fairness, the Opposition sees it as a sign of governance breakdown. An inquiry by the CBI has been initiated to investigate the breach and restore trust in the national entrance exam system, focusing on preventing future disruptions.
