Karandeep Kochhar maintained his position as the leading Indian player at the IGPL Bharath Classic on the Asian Tour. The 27-year-old golfer from Chandigarh shot a 2-under 70 to reach a total of 7-under but dropped from Tied-fifth to Tied-10th due to challenging wind conditions.
The tournament leader is Thailand’s Settee Prakongvech, who scored 68 to reach 13-under, leading by three strokes over his closest competitors, Runchanapong Youprayong and Sweden’s Charlie Lindh. Kochhar missed several opportunities to score better, especially towards the end of his round.
Despite a modest performance, Kochhar expressed satisfaction with his game but acknowledged the need to capitalize on more birdie chances. Gaganjeet Singh Bhullar and Pukhraj Singh Gill also made progress, shooting 69 each to move up to T-36 in the standings.
Kartik Singh, who started the day T-5, fell to T-36 after a 3-over 75 round. Other Indian players like Yashas Chandra, Raghav Chugh, and Rashid Khan were also tied at 36th place. Settee Prakongvech, the current leader, is in search of his first Asian Tour win despite being a professional since 2014.
The tournament in Morocco is part of the Asian Tour’s series of events in the country, following the IGPL Morocco Rising Stars and the ongoing IGPL Bharath Classic. It will culminate with the International Series Morocco featuring a USD 2 million prize in Rabat.
