Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has called for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to apologize to the nation for what he termed as “childish remarks” directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Vijayendra criticized Gandhi’s recent comments, emphasizing that leaders of Gandhi’s stature should refrain from making such statements. He warned of potential protests across the state if an apology is not issued.
Vijayendra highlighted the BJP’s significant victories in West Bengal and Assam, suggesting that Gandhi’s inability to accept these results may have triggered his comments. Stressing the importance of respecting constitutional authorities, Vijayendra urged political figures to exercise caution in their public statements. He specifically defended PM Modi’s achievements and questioned Gandhi’s motives behind his criticisms.
The BJP leader also defended Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s actions, particularly the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Vijayendra accused Gandhi of making derogatory remarks against Shah and PM Modi due to their successful governance and efforts in national security. Additionally, he criticized Congress leaders in Karnataka for their alleged irresponsible behavior on various issues.
Vijayendra announced the upcoming visit of BJP national president Nitin Nabin to Bengaluru, scheduled for May 23. He mentioned plans for Nabin’s participation in district training sessions and meetings with party officials. The BJP leader also outlined several programs to commemorate PM Modi’s 12 years in office, including events for World Environment Day and International Yoga Day.
Regarding the Bidadi township project, Vijayendra assured that affected farmers would not be neglected. He expressed the BJP’s commitment to supporting those who lost land for the project. Furthermore, he welcomed former Karnataka Kadu Golla Development Corporation chairman Rajanna into the BJP, anticipating increased party strength in central Karnataka with his inclusion.
