Reacting to the Congress-led government’s decision to hold a special session on the Centre’s new initiative Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM-G), the Karnataka BJP demanded discussions on issues like the drug mafia and concerns of Kannada-speaking people in Kerala instead of VB-G RAM-G. The ruling Congress-led government in Karnataka opposes VB-G RAM-G, a new Central government initiative introduced to modernize the existing MGNREGA rural employment scheme.
Opposition Leader R. Ashoka urged the government to convene a special session to address issues such as the drug mafia, alleged insult to Kannada in Kerala, and other pressing matters rather than focusing on VB-G RAM-G. He criticized the state government’s decision to discuss the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yojana during the upcoming special session and emphasized the need to address issues like the drug mafia and rehabilitation for encroachers in Bengaluru.
Ashoka highlighted Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s absence from key meetings and events, accusing him of neglecting important engagements. He criticized the Chief Minister for prioritizing political interactions over economic opportunities, leading to missed industrial prospects for the state. Ashoka also questioned the government’s focus on renaming initiatives while neglecting core issues affecting the state.
