Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has accused the state government of influencing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He claims that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are being pressured to deviate from Election Commission guidelines. Vijayendra has urged the Election Commission to address these alleged irregularities promptly.
Vijayendra highlighted instances where BLOs were reportedly distributing forms from inappropriate locations instead of conducting house-to-house visits. He also alleged that MLAs were interfering with the process in some areas. The BJP leader expressed concerns over a parallel SIR process causing confusion among voters in Greater Bengaluru Authority.
The Election Commission has been alerted to the reported violations, with assurances of corrective action. Vijayendra criticized Congress workers for allegedly disrupting the SIR exercise. He claimed that Congress members were misusing the process and pressuring officials. BJP leaders have called for strict action against those found guilty of misconduct.
