Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra has challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s assertion of setting a record for the longest tenure as Chief Minister, dismissing it as an illusion. Vijayendra criticized the Chief Minister for claiming achievements without substantial evidence, questioning his actual contributions to Karnataka during his term. He highlighted the accomplishments of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs, emphasizing his significant reforms and initiatives for the welfare of the people.
Vijayendra further criticized Siddaramaiah for allegedly neglecting the legacy of Devaraj Urs and accused him of opportunism in his political career. He pointed out discrepancies in Siddaramaiah’s governance, including failures to fulfill promises and allegations of corruption. The BJP President also raised concerns about the state government’s actions, such as forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) based on rumors, which he claimed had negative repercussions on religious sentiments.
Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the importance of evaluating Siddaramaiah’s tenure based on the quality of governance rather than just the duration in office. Bommai highlighted the need to focus on the impact of Siddaramaiah’s policies on the state’s development, particularly in terms of social welfare and economic progress. He called for a discussion on the substantive outcomes of Siddaramaiah’s administration rather than mere tenure statistics.
