Karnataka BJP President, B.Y. Vijayendra, expressed concern over alleged cross-voting by some BJP MLAs in the Legislative Council elections. He emphasized that those responsible would face disciplinary measures. Vijayendra sought a meeting with the party’s National President to address the issue and discuss the political scenario in Karnataka.
Vijayendra claimed that cross-voting occurred within both alliance parties, with votes not favoring the alliance candidate. He mentioned seeking the national president’s intervention to address the issue and ensure accountability for those involved. The BJP President stressed that party members engaging in such actions would be dealt with seriously.
Referring to the BJP-JD(S) alliance, Vijayendra disclosed that a third candidate was fielded in the Council polls following discussions with Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. He highlighted the alliance’s intention to secure the victory of the third candidate and expressed disappointment over the outcome of the elections.
Vijayendra addressed internal party differences, emphasizing the party’s commitment to resolving such issues. He dismissed concerns about political strategies, stating the BJP’s confidence in facing political challenges. The BJP President also asserted his position within the party, emphasizing that any attempts to weaken it would be addressed through the party’s mechanisms.
