The Karnataka BJP issued a warning to the Congress government in the state, cautioning of strong protests if there are any attempts to raise petrol and diesel prices. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka credited the Central government for recent price reductions and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same. He emphasized that any price hikes would lead to intense demonstrations and criticized the Congress for potentially linking price changes to elections.
Ashoka also highlighted the need for proper security arrangements during IPL matches in Bengaluru, citing a past incident where inadequate police security resulted in casualties. He urged the government to take preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future. Additionally, he mentioned the distribution of IPL tickets to MLAs and suggested implementing an online ticketing system.
Regarding the state’s financial situation, Ashoka alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had accumulated significant loans and hinted at the introduction of more taxes. He raised concerns about the misuse of funds in various schemes and criticized the government’s handling of projects like the “Sky Deck” in Bengaluru. Ashoka further discussed issues related to the Metro project funding and delays in releasing funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
