Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar likened politics to a game of chess, emphasizing the strategic nature where moves are not disclosed in advance. Addressing media queries at Vidhana Soudha, he refrained from commenting on his associate’s candidature in the Legislative Council elections and the JD-S fielding an additional candidate. Shivakumar also chose not to respond to AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala’s criticism regarding the denial of a Rajya Sabha ticket to former PM H.D. Deve Gowda.
Shivakumar expressed his condolences for the late Suraj Hegde, highlighting his selfless nature and dedication to service. He praised Hegde’s commitment to the party and his contributions at various levels within the organization. The Chief Minister acknowledged the loss as deeply personal and assured that the Karnataka government would pay its respects with state honors at Hegde’s final rites.
During the day, JD-S MLAs, led by Suresh Babu, met with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to convey their regards. Additionally, former MLA Manjunath, along with Congress leaders and workers from Hunsur, extended their greetings to Shivakumar. Congress spokesperson Lakshman, associated with former CM Siddaramaiah, was also present during the interactions.
