Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stressed the importance of safeguarding citizens’ voting rights in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He directed officials to ensure awareness and proper documentation, highlighting the need for integrity and accountability without succumbing to external pressures. Shivakumar urged officials to work within the legal framework, emphasizing the significance of preserving voting rights for all eligible citizens.
Shivakumar, after a high-level meeting with senior bureaucrats, including police and forest department officials, emphasized the need for officials to visit taluks and oversee government program implementation. He specifically mentioned that no citizen should lose their voting rights during the SIR process, emphasizing the importance of completing enumeration forms accurately to prevent any disenfranchisement.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to expedite pending works, identify new initiatives within financial constraints, and provide detailed reports on recent government decisions. He expressed concern over the utilization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in the state, highlighting the need for transparency in their allocation. Shivakumar outlined plans to utilize CSR funds for constructing schools and prioritizing primary education, with a focus on seeking CSR support for education and subsequently for the health sector.
