After all five Congress candidates won in the Legislative Council elections, Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, accompanied by his wife Usha Shivakumar, visited the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala. This marked his first visit to Tirupati since becoming Chief Minister. The couple received a warm welcome at the renowned hill shrine and sought blessings from Lord Venkateswara.
Shivakumar and his wife performed special prayers at the temple and were honored with ‘prasadam’ and traditional gestures by the temple authorities. The visit to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) temple holds significance as Shivakumar prepares for a cabinet expansion. He engaged in religious rituals at the temple premises before heading back to Bengaluru for upcoming meetings.
The Chief Minister’s visit follows the victory of all five Congress candidates in the Karnataka Legislative Council elections, where the BJP secured two seats. This outcome is viewed as a boost for Shivakumar and a setback for the BJP and JD(S) alliance. The Congress party’s success was aided by additional votes, including support from BJP and JD(S) MLAs who crossed party lines to back Congress candidates.
Shivakumar expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received by the Congress candidates, emphasizing the unity among legislators and the public’s confidence in the state government. He reassured his commitment to serving the people and upholding the trust placed in the government. The results of the elections reflect a strong backing for the government and its policies, according to Shivakumar.
