Karnataka Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, announced that Cabinet portfolios for newly sworn-in ministers will be assigned by the end of the day. This decision followed a meeting with senior government officials, including Deputy Chief Minister, G. Parameshwara. CM Shivakumar addressed media confusion over portfolio distribution, emphasizing that financial discussions have not commenced yet.
He asserted that ministerial allocations are the prerogative of the party leadership and dismissed reports of lobbying for specific portfolios, including the Bengaluru Development portfolio. Responding to criticism on the state’s finances, CM Shivakumar assured transparency by providing necessary information to the BJP and media outlets. He defended the Bharat Jodo Youth Clubs initiative, highlighting that all public activities involve financial implications.
CM Shivakumar emphasized the need for completing pending work across departments within 25 days. In a meeting with officials, he stressed the importance of addressing district-specific issues promptly and encouraged the submission of new initiatives and problem-solving strategies within the financial framework. The Chief Minister urged officials to focus on creating lasting achievements and finding solutions within the existing administrative setup.
