Expressing confidence in winning, Karnataka State Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that there would be no polarization in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. He emphasized the commitment to bring about significant change in Assam. Shivakumar, appointed as the Assam election observer by the AICC, shared these views after a meeting with national leadership in Delhi.
During the meeting at AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Delhi, attended by key leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, Shivakumar mentioned receiving valuable suggestions. He highlighted the collective experience of managing elections within the party and expressed optimism about an impending transformation in Assam. The focus remains on conveying a clear message to the people and implementing effective programs.
Shivakumar reiterated the expectation of a shift in governance in Assam with the Congress party coming to power. Emphasizing unity and discipline within the party, he stressed the importance of cooperation among leaders. The party leadership’s clear directives, as articulated by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, aim to ensure a strong presence and impact in the state.
Meanwhile, reports suggested a private discussion between Shivakumar and Rahul Gandhi regarding leadership dynamics post the meeting, although this remains unconfirmed. Shivakumar clarified that discussions on the Chief Minister’s post in Karnataka are internal matters to be resolved within the party leadership. Maintaining a strategic approach, he refrained from disclosing specific plans publicly, indicating that such matters are handled at the party level.
