Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, expressed alarm over the Sringeri recount outcome, labeling it as a threat to the nation. The recount revealed BJP’s D.N. Jeevaraj as the victor over incumbent Congress MLA, T.D. Rajegowda.
The recount, ordered by the Karnataka High Court, saw Gaurav Kumar Shetty, the Election Officer, officially declare the results. Shivakumar, in Bengaluru, condemned the result, alleging a conspiracy and vowing to investigate and pursue legal action.
He criticized the alteration of ballot papers, suggesting an orchestrated scheme. Shivakumar emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the discrepancies that emerged during the recount process. He highlighted irregularities and called the incident a stain on the state’s electoral integrity.
