Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, responsible for Bengaluru’s development, unveiled a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for Bengaluru residents on the occasion of Ugadi. The scheme, managed by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), will run from April to June 2026, offering a complete interest waiver on pending water bills.
The initiative aims to assist consumers with long-overdue water bill payments. Customers who clear the principal amount in full will receive a 100% waiver on accumulated interest up to April 2026. The OTS scheme, active for three months, intends to ease the financial burden on consumers and facilitate bill clearance.
Around 5.11 lakh out of 11 lakh water connections under BWSSB have outstanding dues, totaling Rs 851.33 crore as of February 2026. The scheme targets all categories of BWSSB consumers, including domestic, commercial, and industrial users. It also extends to government departments and institutions for account reconciliation.
To streamline payments, BWSSB will furnish defaulters with necessary details like RR number, principal amount, interest waiver, and final payable sum. Consumers can settle their dues through BWSSB kiosks, the online portal, and various digital payment channels. The scheme is expected to benefit over 5.11 lakh consumers by waiving approximately Rs 311 crore in interest.
