Amid a leadership dispute, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah holds the duty of ensuring discipline among MLAs. Shivakumar emphasized that maintaining MLA discipline falls under the Chief Minister’s jurisdiction as the leader of the legislature party.
Responding to reports of meetings held by MLAs without party leadership’s knowledge, Shivakumar mentioned his lack of information on these gatherings. He clarified that discussions with him regarding these meetings had not taken place.
Regarding the Davanagere ticket issue, Shivakumar expressed his unawareness of the situation. He mentioned ongoing discussions with the Chief Minister on the matter but awaited further details. The final decision on this issue will be made by high command leaders after his report submission.
When questioned about candidate selection timelines, Shivakumar assured that the process would conclude within two to three days. He also addressed the departure of Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi to the BJP, expressing surprise at the move and highlighting Bordoloi’s respected status within the Congress party.
Shivakumar acknowledged recent party defections in Assam, emphasizing the impact of such actions on the Congress party’s strength in the region. He noted the upcoming meeting at Indira Bhavan to address these developments.
In response to queries about the Defence Ministry’s cooperation, Shivakumar mentioned gradual progress in addressing issues raised over the years. He highlighted the Defence Ministry’s commitment to making comprehensive decisions regarding similar challenges in various states.
Discussing restrictions on airport development until the completion of 25 years, Shivakumar outlined the requirements for the Kempegowda International Airport’s future projects. He clarified that restrictions would not apply if the Bengaluru Airport Limited manages the project.
Regarding protests against the NICE company, Shivakumar supported the demand for land allocation and compensation to affected individuals. He emphasized the importance of addressing grievances of those who lost their land and highlighted recent legislative changes in this regard.
