Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar introduced a range of citizen-focused programs for Bengaluru, termed the Congress government’s “sixth guarantee” – “Bhoo Guarantee” (land guarantee). Initiatives include e-Khata document distribution, concessions for converting ‘B’ Khata properties to ‘A’ Khata, relaxation in building violation limits, and more. Nearly 150 development projects for Bengaluru are in the pipeline, with further details to follow soon.
Speaking at a press conference at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) headquarters, Shivakumar highlighted plans for a “Nanna Khate, Nanna Hakku” (My Khata, My Right) campaign starting on May 16. This campaign will run every Saturday for three months, featuring open-house programs on e-Khata issues at 50 locations across five municipal zones in Bengaluru. The government’s e-Khata initiative has already provided over 23 lakh property records online, making it India’s largest integrated digital urban property records system.
Shivakumar emphasized the transformation of Bengaluru’s property records system through the ‘Bhoo Guarantee,’ ensuring secure and accessible digital property records for all genuine property owners. Notably, a significant concession has been announced for property owners converting from ‘B’ Khata to ‘A’ Khata, reducing the conversion fee from 5% to 2% for those completing payment within 100 days. This move is expected to benefit around seven lakh property owners in the city.
The new system includes GPS details and the owner’s photograph in every property document, aiming for a corruption-free and transparent delivery process. Property owners will receive information about the scheme through various media platforms, with the documents available for download online.
